Cardiovascular ischemic injury regeneration using Wharton Jelly as unlimited therapeutic stem cells source” (CIRCULATE)

Finance: National Center for Research and Development under the Programme called STRATEGMED II (Agreement No. Strategmed2/265761/10/NCBR/2015)

Realization time: from 2015 –

Information: The project proposes a new approach to the treatment of selected cardiovascular diseases based on the use of allogeneic transplantation of Wharton’s Jelly derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells (WJMSC). Implementation of the Circulate project will generate novel knowledge about the WJMSC biology and new MRI technology to monitor regeneration process in different diseases. It will allow development of new treatment strategies for cardiovascular diseases using cell replacement therapy.

Effects:

  • establishment of WJMSC repository
  • characterization of the WJMSC using cellular and molecular methods
  • evaluation of the clinical WJMSCs potential in selected cardiovascular diseases using novel MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) methodology
  • assessment of seeding properties and regenerative potential of WJMSC using in vivo models.
